Over - hedges, cars, fields etc.
Under - lorries and cars, especially when at/near the crest of a hill.
Through - car windows, gaps in tree/hedges.
This can be extended to looking in reflections of approaching cars in shop windows, car bodywork etc.. Any clue that will make you a little bit more prepared for what's around the next bend.
